Three more nights…

06/08/2010

11pm to 7am is AWFUL.

It is just so slow.  The hours (and hours) just plod along.  7am seems forever coming.  Thankfully, I’ll only work this shift when the regular person is on vay-cay.

Which by-the-way is the nicest lady.  She’s so very quiet and soft spoken.  Polite.  Thoughtful.  Sweet.  And her headbands match the color of her shirt!  I love stuff like that!

Last night I decided to finish up my web based training modules.  That went quick and geez, it was only 1:30 am.  Crap.

I mean if third shift were only half as busy as first I’d probably be in love with it.  It would be easy for me to go to the gym.  If hubby and I needed the car for work it’s no problem.  And I do love sleeping with the puppies!  And it feels like I have more hours in my day because there is just so much day left when I get up in the afternoon before I even have to be at work.  And then we’d both be off on the weekends again!

But working third shift reminds me of my old job where I’d have hours and hours each day with not much to do.  ACH!

And then there is when the sleepiness hits me.  It seems to happen around 4 or 5am.  Suddenly I feel wiped out and just wanna go home and sleep in our nice cuddly bed with darling hubby.

*sigh*

I feel your pain. When I was in the navy, I’d have to stand night watches while we were at sea, and I’d have to do it for a week at a time, sometimes two weeks straight, and even when I was kind of used to the schedule, I was never REALLY used to it. 4am or so is when I’d have to really fight to stay awake, and then I could easily sleep from 6 or 7am all the way until about 9pm when I’d have to get ready to go on watch again. I did like not having to work during normal working hours, though. :) It was much more peaceful being awake while everyone else was asleep.

In answer to your question about the blog list on my sidebar. I only know how to do it in Blogger….go to Dashboard, then select LAYOUT (Page Elements), then click on ADD A GADGET, then scroll quite a ways down and select BLOG LIST (not to be confused with blog followers which is closer to the top). You can then customize it with your list of names and place it wherever you wish on your sidebar (and don’t forget to save it). Hope this helps. Keep smilin’.

I also love people who think enough to have their headband match their outfit- if only I were one of them!

And I’m sorry about 3rd shift- hang in there!!

I’ll be glad when you are off the night shift, Lee. It’s too damned hard on us to do the old turn around! Alex goes to work tonight at 11 PM in Georgia, leaves at 6 AM tomorrow to fly home. He should be a bundle of laughs when he arrives about 1:30 or 2 PM. Poor thing!
