Darling Son

I woke up drunk…

02/01/2009

…with sleep on Wednesday.

I’d gone to bed before nine because I was totally wiped out and so could have gone to bed at 6pm if I’d been home by then.  I did wake up at 6 am only to find out that classes were cancelled at UK and that I didn’t have to go into the office.

Of course I’d known this was a possibility when I left work the day before so I’d brought plenty of work home to do because I had too much left to do to prepare for our big event on Thursday night.  I knew that because I’d been working some incredibly long days and on the weekend, too.

Still it was all good.  It was for my most favorite project of nearly every year that I’ve had this job.  It would probably be every year if they hadn’t out sourced it the first year I had this job — but hey!  Dey din’t no I coulda dun if fer dem den!

When I did wake up about two and a half hours later I felt like I was drunk.  Seriously.  I don’t know if it was because I’d slept for so long or too hard or what, but I woke up feeling drunk and tipsy.  I nearly tripped over my feet even!

I made a nice pot of coffee, took the pups out and fed them, snapped some pictures of ice laden trees around my house, and then settled into some work stuff.

That was pretty much my Wednesday.  Work for a while.  Take some pictures.  Play with the pups.  Work for a while…etc.

Here’s a short video of Gracie and the Minikins…

We lost no power or even cable during this ice storm.  Yes, we were blessed.  Especially when one considers that the state is under "emergency" and the National Guard has been mobilized to assist — and that we live in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Lexington!  I know my Dad in the Big O has been without power for several days already, but he says he is fine and doesn’t need anything.

I’ve thought of many things to blog about these last few days, but didn’t have the energy, or will, to blog them.

Click on this photo of my big giant kid that I took yesterday, while he was getting ready (dawdling) to pick up an Rx and our birthday cake, and it will take you to that slide show.  See there was no birthday cake on my birthday and he had to work on his so we got a cake from Magee’s yesterday.  Ummm.  Cake.

I think it’s very odd how I can eat cake quite easially compared to how I can’t eat bread.  Odd.  Isn’t cake a form of bread anyway?

I seem to be losing weight again — even though I’ve not been to the gym in like SIX MONTHS.  Yes, it really has been that long.  I will be back in the gym starting tomorrow.  Hubby may be going to.  I hope so.  He won’t stay as long as me, but I know he’ll feel better once he gets used to it!  I am so looking forward to the gym tomorrow.  I may even get a household membership so my darling son may use the gym, too.

Crocs, et al

01/19/2009

So my son was needing some new Croc Bistro’s.  I’d gotten him a pair last year for his old job down in Texas, but neglected to tell him not to leave them in the car.  A car sitting in the hot sun.  They shrunk so much he just gave them to a friend that they now fit after shrinking.  So when ordering those I discover that the Croc Venture’s that my hubby likes so much are now on clearance — and ordered two pair for him.  Which left me 3 cents from being eligible for free shipping.  THREE FECKING CENTS!

Which is why I now have these…

They were also on clearance!  Ooo!  Ahh!  I had to put them on as soon as the package arrived to my office.  It was casual Friday so it was all good.

It seems the Minikins likes them, too.

sophie

Here is Sophie on the deck this morning.  Doesn’t the snow help bring out the rich colors of her coat.  I can’t help it.  I really love to look at my cat’s fur.

gracie on the sofa

And here is GRACIE!  On the sofa.  What is so awesome about a dog on the sofa?  Well THIS DOG can now get up and down off the sofa whenever she wants ALL BY HERSELF.

We tell Gracie all the time how happy (and relieved) we are for her.  Darling son told her last night that she was "this" close to being dead, but that he liked her so much better this way.

This way?

Gracie seems to stand a bit crooked now.  Kinda like she has a bit of scoliosis.  And we don’t care.  Because she gets around just fine and is no longer in pain.

Gracie’s recovery seems like a miracle.  And yes, I did thank God for it!

… so now some of my stuff is missing —  pictures or links that I’d included in a post or something.  Crapola.

This happens every time I upgrade.  Which is why I put it off as long as I can, but it’s hard because whenever I log in to post there is that admonishment that the new version is available — UPGRADE NOW!  So after a while it wears me down and I relinquish.

*sigh*

Last night I had plenty of vodka and cranberry juice, but not so much that I have a hangover or anything; just a bit of a sore throat.  My darling son on the other hand … got so drunk he called us for a ride home (Thank God!) but my phone was way up in the front of the house on my desk and I was sound asleep and didn’t hear so he took a taxi (double THANK GOD!).

He’s still zonked out and snoring on his bed.  No trip to the Big O for him today.

We’re thinking of taking the Minnikins with us.  My Dad’ll love that.

Not.

…whine and complain.

The fluishness I’ve been having seems to be on its last legs, but now my back is giving me fits.  Most likely from all this laying about I’ve been doing, what with being sick and all.

Today we were to deliver meals on wheels, but I didn’t see me possibly passing this crap on to any Christmas shut ins, and so we bowed out.

My darling son is coming down with something now.  Crap.  He was going to leave for a visit with his grandfather to the Big O, but now I’m not seeing it.  He doesn’t need to be taking any sick germs to his grandfather.  Also, he’s to start a new job on the 2nd (Hip, hip, hooray!) and really needs to be in good health by then.

My holiday vacation officially began yesterday.  This year we’ve been granted six bonus days instead of the usual four.  Once again it pays to work for the man!

I hope to be back to my old self by early next week.  I’ve promised my nephew a visit and all and would hate to dissappoint him.

I’d also like to step into the office for a few hours or a day.  I had a nice pile of stuff on my desk that I’d put together early last week to hold me thru till the end of Tuesday this week — the day before our holiday break was to begin.  Best laid plans and all that.  Now I’ll be stressing through getting that done and working on the LVC report, too.  Ach!

My plan was to clear my desk of any other work just to concentrate upon that.  Dammit.

*sigh*
