… from this blog for like a week now. Not that I haven’t been thinking of posts to post. Just not posting.
Busy. And then too tired to care to post.
Biggest issue just now? Unemployment hasn’t begun yet. It’s been three months now and not a single check.
Oh, I’m still looking for a job. And I’ve kept in contact with the unemployment office.
My claim is "under investigation." Wanna know why?
Because they ask a question regarding disability — and if you reply "yes" your claim has to be sent for investigation.
Oh, it doesn’t matter that you were laid off from a job you had for like five and a half years. It only matters that you could be on disabilty instead of receiving unemployment WHILE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A JOB?
Yes, I could re-apply for disabilty, but is it okay if I at least try and find another job first? I mean there are employers out there who are willing to accommodate someone’s disabilities (even if just for a while) and I feel like I should give them all a fair chance to HIRE ME before I just give up.
Right?
Did I already say the savings are gone? Did I already say I cashed out my retirement to pay off every little bill I could so we could manage to live with his income and my unemployment until I found a job? Did I already say how the mortgage company is breathing down our necks?
Yup. I didn’t pay off the mortgage. Like I had that kinda money available. I did make sure we’d be able to make those payments on his income and my unemployment because WHO WOULD KNOW unemployment would give me any problems since I WAS LAID OFF?
Even my previous employer stated in their letter of notice that I would be eligible for unemployment…
Pholks? Believe it or not? This is my dream home! That one, with the gingerbread trim, you can barely see to the right of me. The one we haven’t even finished yet.

See the one next to it with the rusting tin roof?
Yup. Gonna put a tin roof on mine some day. Gonna put a swing on that porch. Gonna put a wood frame screen door there, too — the kind that smacks you on the ass on your way in the house — with a nice loud bang! Gonna put a picket fence around that front yard. Gonna paint that house a pale and creamy yellow with periwinkle blue trim. Gonna a put a huge rock (aka small boulder or two) in that front yard, too.
Inside that little house are a small number of very nice sized rooms in which all my second hand and very eclectic furnishings look quite awesome when the place is all cleaned up for company. Some day the back deck will be a screened in porch for the me and future grand kids to play in on those damned rainy summer days. Beyond that is a tiny little yard which the Lily puppy loves to bark around in all the day long.
The neighbors are mostly pretty awesome. Best neighbors I’ve had in years. And eclectic, too!
And someday there will be lace curtains in the kitchen and maybe even doilies on the back of the living room chairs. Idunno. I only know it is going to be the little house I’ve always dreamed of.
Yes, I know it’s a very romantic sort of dream, but it’s what I’ve always wanted and I am just THIS close to being there.
Come on, you know you wanna move in with me!

I love the ideas you have for your dream house. Particularly the color scheme. Periwinkle is of one of my faves, too! LOVE the goggy in the basket of the bike.
I’m sorry for your trouble with unemployment. I’ll keep you and your dream house in my prayers.
Thank you, John. Hugs to you and the Mrs.!
Thanks, Wombat! We were on our way to be in the 4th of July Parade!
Hang in there! Sending good thoughts your way!
I love houses with porches.
