A Ladies Christmas Tea to be more exact. My friend D invited me. It was sponsored by her church. Apparently they have one every year, but this year they had it at a local country club and the funds raised by ticket sales went to benefit Bluegrass Domestic Violence Prevention. Clicking on the photo will take you to their website:
The event was really quite nice. Turns out the ladies are served by their husbands! D’s hubby, J, was there dispensing your choice of single packed tea bag (I had three cups of Earl Grey!) and later some little sandwiches. On each table there was a three tiered serving tray over loaded with plenty of little sweets to choose from. Later finger sandwiches and other hot hors d’oeuvres were served to us by all the men in white shirts and black ties. D’s Pastor actually wore a tuxedo for the event!
On our tables were these little party favors to take home with us:
The picture sucks. I know. The theme of the event was "hope." In front of each place setting was a framed saying regarding hope. The little hope ornament was included with your ticket for the event. D treated me to the event, but still I donated the $25 gift offering they suggested.
D also treated two young ladies from her church for the occasion. They were so lovely and charming to meet. D (like my Miss B) is very popular and knows a lot of people. I couldn’t tell you how many ladies came up to our table just to say hello and give her a hug!
We didn’t get home until after 10! I was so sleepy. And so stuffed with all kinds of little delicacies!
This afternoon is the department (our office works under) holiday party. Since it is always casual Friday around here, I kept to a pair of jeans and a nice white blouse — but I put a little blue ribbon in my hair for the party!
I think my new computer will arrive by FedEx today. I’ve got my fingers crossed!
