travel

…but all I got was this little key chain filled with sand from the beaches she walked upon.

And it made me think about the souvenirs we gave to our friends after our trip to Dallas last February…

We should have given them all Texas key chains filled with tiny bits of cowboy!

I had a decent week, but I’m still not caught up on some things at work.  I used to be much more efficient.  I’ll get back to that place again, I know I will, but for now it still sucks.

I also screwed up and sent a mailing out to the WRONG MAILING LIST.  Shit.  I had two lists on my desktop and clicked the wrong one.  SHIT.  I fixed it (I think) but I still feel like crap about it.  Number One was angry, but he didn’t yell or anything.  We just agreed that I would fix it.  His calmness didn’t change how shitty I felt about being such a screw up, but he didn’t do anything to make me feel worse.

Thank you, God, for the blessing me with the best boss EVER!

I’ve been working on my pictures and commentary from the Dallas trip.  Mostly as a letter to my Dad, who just had knee replacement surgery.  I plan to put it into pdf format and will make a link to it here for all of you that I know are just sitting on the edges of your seat in anticipation of "Token’s Texas Adventure."

*sigh*

So last week I was walking to work and I’m tugging my pants up for like the seventh time since I left home and I decide that while my clothes are not actually falling off me yet, they are getting annoyingly big.  And so I decided to order some new ones — four sizes smaller!  I don’t know if I’ll even be able to get into to them, or if I do how much too snug are they gonna be?  For just a while, I hope…

If you’re wondering why I just didn’t go shopping and trying on clothes, let me tell ya.  The only time I physically go to a store to shop and try on clothes is when I need something like tomorrow.  I’d rather get my stuff in the mail and deal by sending it back for the right size.  Or deciding I don’t like it after all.  Or saving it until it does fit (unless it’s too big — I’ll send that stuff right back with a smile on my face, don’t cha know!).  I’m even getting this way about shoes.  Isn’t ZAPPOS awesome!

Major cuteness warning:

When we arrived yesterday it was in the 40′s; today we’re expecting the low 80′s.

The Southfork Hotel is okay.  Our room is pretty much like the Adam’s Mark we stayed in on a St. Louis trip 15 years ago, though this hotel ts not that upscale.  It’s fine for u$.  Unfortunately the hotel is remodeling rooms.  We didn’t get one of those…and they are working on one close by.  Ach!

This morning we enjoyed breakfast in our room.  I know what you’re thinking…’Token — spending money on room service?!!’

"Yup!  Because I’M ON VACATION!"

Darling Son and his girlfriend are still living in the same apartment, but in separate bedrooms.  We had supper together last night at a place called On The Border.   It’s good to see her despite their circumstances.

Soon our son will be here with his car and hubby will take him to work so we can keep the car.  We’re going to do at least one outing a day.  Traffic here in Dallas is very frantic and we don’t want too much stress ON OUR VACATION.

For sure we’re going to visit IKEA (I’ve been wanting to go to one for ages!) and I’m hoping we can go to the Riply’s Museum, too.  They have a science museum I want to visit and a zoo.  We’ll see.

Our biggest surprise was Darling Son’s appearance:

After he saw us settled in our hotel room he went home to shave it off to the goatee we were expecting.  He’d gotten glue in it at work that afternoon so it had to go.
