The Darling Husband…

…was emailed from his boss that he has 100 hours of vacation time that will drop off his benefits if he doesn't use them by September 30th.

Four day weekends!

I think we will get the house painted and a front fence installed well before the summer is over!

Woot!

Except…

Our neighbors just painted their house a very olive green with black accents.  It looks great, but E! feels our baby mint green will not look as nicely because there is now a green house next door.

She is suggesting something from the family of yellow.

I like yellow!  It used to be my favorite color, and green was my second favorite, until I was thirty something and green moved to the top spot.  It's just that I've been seeing my sweet little Victorian cottage in mint green since we first laid eyes on it back in 2004.

Idunno.  What do you think?

Thanks!  We went for a soft butter cream/cake batter kinda yellow.  We’re doing all the trim in a brilliant white, but leaving the door red.  Since were going with yellow we’re also going with a white picket fence.  We’ll do the iron fencing when we (hopefully) paint our house (again) in ten years or so — in the baby mint green of my dream.

My house is white with black shutters. The house across the street was done in yellow with black shutters and I’ll have to say it’s such a happy color, it makes me smile every time I look at it. So my vote would be a nice pale yellow with either black or white trim.

I think yellow would be beautiful – maybe with grey accents?

I think yellow would be very pretty!  But I also think the mint green is a wonderful color for the house.  Ours is sort of a grey / green and a bit dark but good with deep olive green accents and cream trim along with some maroon.  My neighbor painted their house sort of an avocado and at first I thought it was too close to our color, but they look fine side by side.  (My other neighbor has a very soft yellow trimmed with white with deeper yellow accents.  Very pretty!)

We need a paint job, but the price tag of $25,000 keeps us from doing it this year.  Hah!

We’re painting ourselves.  Cheaper, but still painful.
